three wishes

Berry has asked us to share three things we wish for in our Second Life – so here goes!

1. I really really with all my heart wish Linden Labs would lower the monthly tier for full sims, and allow people who don’t have a sim to buy a homestead! I do think many more people would consider owning a sim if it wasn’t so expensive (europeans have to pay VAT in addition to the fee, which adds up even more).
2. I wish I could move whole folders from inventory into boxes. Managing the inventory would be so much easier, especially if you’ve got a lot of stuff. Of course you would then need to keep track of what you put where, but I would gladly accept that!
3. I wish people would be more open minded about SL – not many of my RL aquaintances know I’m into it, and to most it’s wasted time. Of course it doesn’t help that people who have heard about it often just heard about the pixel sex. SL is so much more! I’ve learned a lot of skills I wouldn’t have learned without it, like working with Photoshop, texturing, making animations….

why I blog

Another one of Berry’s memes!

1. How long have you been blogging?
   Since December 2011
2. Why did you start?
   I was looking for something SL related to do which didn’t take up as much time as creating stuff, because I was doing a job-retraining which required lots of learning. And I love photography, particularly fashion and interior design.
3. How many times a week do you post an entry?
   About 2 – 4 times, depending on my mood and my ideas for looks.
4. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis?
   I read a lot of SL blogs – mostly fashion and interior design, but also a few techie ones, and a few blogs by RL friends.
5. Do you comment on other people’s blogs?
   Not often enough – mostly I just press “like” if it’s a WordPress blog. It’s a bit sad, because I love getting comments on my posts, and I know other bloggers feel the same! I’ll try to do better now!
6. Do you keep track of how many visitors you have?
   I do, because it gives me a warm buzzy feelin’! It makes me happy to see that people like my pictures and maybe buy things because I’ve shown them here, because that helps the designers of all that awesome stuff and they make more of it!
7. Did you ever regret a post that you wrote?
   No. If I would, I would probably delete the post, but then I’m not writing about deeply personal things here.
8. Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog?
   Not sure – if they follow my posts, they might get a feeling of what I like in terms of fashion and furniture, and of course that’s a part of me, but there’s more to a person than that…
9. Do you blog under your real name?
   So far, no, my blogs have been under my SL name or just as “sisch”, because that’s a nick I’ve had for years.
10. Are there topics that you would never blog about?
    I would never blog something I don’t like, or blog something just because I feel an obligation. Blogging should be fun!
11. What is the theme/topic of your blog?
    The theme of this blog is fashion/furniture/homes in SL, and photography.
12. Do you have more than one blog? If so, why?
    Yes! I do have a blog for my little shop ([KoKoLoReS]) which is sadly neglected – that might or might not change soon because I’m going to revamp my store and I’m still debating wether to show new stuff I make on this blog, or keep the store blog. I also have a blog about my machinima, which kinda ended in 2009, but it’s still there.

13. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging?
    Blogging is extremely relaxing to me. I love setting up photos, decorating, playing with lighting, making my avi beautiful or my home a place I would love to have in RL. If my day has been bad, I can forget about everything just logging in and playing with ideas and outfits. I’ve learned a lot about photography, angles, light, moods, about Photoshop – there’s always something new to discover! And that there are people out there who like my pictures and outfits is just the icing on the cake.
14. So, why do you continue to blog?
    It’s fun! I love it, and it makes me happy. So there!

pet peeves!

Ok I’m a bit late for Berry’s latest meme, and most of the pet peeves I’ll be talking about have already been mentioned by others I think…. but hey, a bit of ranting cleanses the soul, so here we go!

1. Gestures: I hate ‘em! Literally from the first moment I came to SL. I don’t like slap stick humor, and a lot of the gestures fall into that category, and I just can’t. stand. them.!
2. Overly active AO’s: Drives me batty! Standing somewhere, waiting for things to rez, surrounded by jumping, squiggeling, head-wiggling avatars…. preferably mixed with gestures… if you want to get rid of me you might just have been given a hint of what always works!
3. Facelights: I am soooo thankful that nowadays I can just make them go away by not rendering them! I remember times when you tp’d somewhere and jumped right into a blank white area, flooded with light!
4. No demos/1L demos/1L gifts: Lately there are a lot of events where mesh clothes are offered without demos. I wonder if people really think an item at a reduced price doesn’t need a demo? That if it doesn’t fit the customer, well, it was “only” 50/75/99 L anway? I usually don’t buy mesh that I haven’t demo’d first, because the quality of the fit can be very different, and even though I’m well able to make my own alpha layers, I’m too lazy to do it. So, you might have stuff I’m really itching to buy, but if you don’t offer a demo, chances are, I won’t! And if you really tempted me to buy something without a demo, and it’s a bad fit or badly rigged, I won’t buy at your shop again, ever.

   Also, I rarely demo something when I have to pay for the demo – I just think that having to pay for it is not right. Yes, I know I’m prissy, it’s just 1L! Still, most of the time I don’t, and consequently don’t buy in that shop.

   And you with the 1L gift?? What does the word “gift” imply? Hm?? Doesn’t it mean “free”? So if you put a 1L tag on it, it’s a dollarbie, but not a gift, dammit!

5. Visiting events wearing 500 scripts and prims: STOP IT! Nobody is looking at you anyway because everyone wants to see the stuff offered at the event, and they can’t see it because you’re wearing tons of scripted jewellry, million prim hair and clothes, full facelights and a dog on a leash! Why haven’t you brought your horse? I have to admit I love events with scripting barriers… hearing the sound of rejection makes me snicker gleefully every time!
