Ok I’m a bit late for Berry’s latest meme, and most of the pet peeves I’ll be talking about have already been mentioned by others I think…. but hey, a bit of ranting cleanses the soul, so here we go!
- Gestures: I hate ‘em! Literally from the first moment I came to SL. I don’t like slap stick humor, and a lot of the gestures fall into that category, and I just can’t. stand. them.!
- Overly active AO’s: Drives me batty! Standing somewhere, waiting for things to rez, surrounded by jumping, squiggeling, head-wiggling avatars…. preferably mixed with gestures… if you want to get rid of me you might just have been given a hint of what always works!
- Facelights: I am soooo thankful that nowadays I can just make them go away by not rendering them! I remember times when you tp’d somewhere and jumped right into a blank white area, flooded with light!
- No demos/1L demos/1L gifts: Lately there are a lot of events where mesh clothes are offered without demos. I wonder if people really think an item at a reduced price doesn’t need a demo? That if it doesn’t fit the customer, well, it was “only” 50/75/99 L anway? I usually don’t buy mesh that I haven’t demo’d first, because the quality of the fit can be very different, and even though I’m well able to make my own alpha layers, I’m too lazy to do it. So, you might have stuff I’m really itching to buy, but if you don’t offer a demo, chances are, I won’t! And if you really tempted me to buy something without a demo, and it’s a bad fit or badly rigged, I won’t buy at your shop again, ever.
Also, I rarely demo something when I have to pay for the demo – I just think that having to pay for it is not right. Yes, I know I’m prissy, it’s just 1L! Still, most of the time I don’t, and consequently don’t buy in that shop.
And you with the 1L gift?? What does the word “gift” imply? Hm?? Doesn’t it mean “free”? So if you put a 1L tag on it, it’s a dollarbie, but not a gift, dammit!
- Visiting events wearing 500 scripts and prims: STOP IT! Nobody is looking at you anyway because everyone wants to see the stuff offered at the event, and they can’t see it because you’re wearing tons of scripted jewellry, million prim hair and clothes, full facelights and a dog on a leash! Why haven’t you brought your horse? I have to admit I love events with scripting barriers… hearing the sound of rejection makes me snicker gleefully every time!
